What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels remove one or more layers of skin. As the peel eliminates blemished and damaged skin, new skin that’s strong and undamaged takes its place.

What are the Different Types of Chemical Peels?

The strength of the ingredients in your chemical peel determines how deeply the peel penetrates and the amount of skin removed.

1. Light Peel: Light chemical peels exfoliate the outer layer of your skin, alleviating dry skin, improving blotchy skin, and diminishing the appearance of fine lines. When you use a light peel, you may not need any downtime and you can get regular treatments to maintain your fresh skin.
2. Medium Peel: Medium chemical peels go deeper, exfoliating the outer layer and the upper part of the middle layer of your skin. With a medium peel, you can improve skin texture, treat uneven skin tone, and minimize age spots and moderate wrinkles. Your skin is slightly red and swollen for a few days, so most patients take up to a week of downtime.
3. Deep Peel: Deep chemical peels penetrate to the lower layer of your skin, treating severe hyperpigmentation, sun damage, acne scars, and deeper wrinkles. While a deep peel produces dramatic results, you’ll need about two weeks to heal.
