The physicians and staff at Mohs Surgery and Dermatology Center are committed to providing the most advanced, comprehensive, and ethical care possible for all of our patients in a friendly and pleasant environment.  We believe in a team oriented approach to patient care, where every staff member at Mohs Surgery and Dermatology Center works together to provide excellent Dermatologic care for our patients.

Dr. Suleman Bangash

Dr. Suleman Bangash - Mohs Micrographic Skin Cancer SurgeonDr. Suleman Bangash is Board Certified in Dermatology and is a Fellowship trained Mohs Micrographic Skin Cancer Surgeon.  Dr. Bangash is originally from the Elgin area, and is a graduate of Elgin Academy.  He attended Northwestern University for his undergraduate studies and attended medical school at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.  He did his internship training at Summa Health System, in Ohio, and then completed his Dermatology residency in New York City at the Lutheran General Hospital.

After completing his dermatology training, Dr. Bangash was one of only 40 physicians chosen nationwide to do an additional year of Mohs Surgery fellowship training.  He completed his Moh’s Surgery Fellowship in Tallahasee, Florida at a program accredited by the American College of Mohs Surgery.   As a fellowship trained Mohs Surgeon, Dr. Bangash is trained in the surgical removal, pathologic interpretation, and reconstructive surgery of skin cancer.  As an expert in Cutaneous Oncology, he is involved in the treatment, management, and regular follow-up of high risk skin cancer patients.

Dr. Bangash continued his work for two years at Dermatology Associates of Tallahassee as an Attending Mohs Surgeon.  He then returned to his hometown in the northwest suburbs of Chicago, where he now practices at Mohs Surgery and Dermatology Center, with offices located in Elgin and Crystal Lake, IL.   Dr. Bangash is a staff physician affiliated with Sherman and Provena St. Joseph Hospitals in Elgin, Centegra Woodstock Memorial Hospital, and St. Alexius hospital in Hoffman Estates.

Dr. Bangash has lectured and presented at national meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery.  In addition, Dr. Bangash has been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.  As an educator, Dr. Bangash has taught Mohs Micrographic Surgery to Dermatology residents in New York City.  Dr. Bangash has been featured in the local media and since 2004 has volunteered to conduct free skin cancer screenings for the American Cancer Society and the American Academy of Dermatology.

Dr. Bangash is a member of the prestigious American College of Mohs Surgery, the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Medical Association

Dr. Bangash is an avid outdoorsman and sports fan.  He resides with his wife in the Chicago area.

Dr. John Cox

Dr. John CoxDr. John Cox joined the Mohs Surgery and Dermatology Center in 2008, and is Board Certified in Dermatology.  We are very pleased he decided to join the Mohs Surgery and Dermatology Center. Dr. Cox brings with him over thirty years of experience in the field of Dermatology.  Dr. Cox originally had his own Dermatology practice in Elgin and Hoffman Estates before joining our practice.

Dr. Cox earned his MD degree from Indiana School of Medicine in 1967.  His Internship was completed at the University of Miami School of Medicine and Jackson Memorial Hospital, Miami FL.  He continued with his Residency at the Department of Dermatology, University of Miami School of Medicine and Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Before entering private practice, Dr. Cox served in the Navy, where he was an Attending Dermatologist at the Department of Dermatology, National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Cox is an active member of the Barrington Noon Rotary and volunteers at a not-for-profit clinic.  He enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf, and traveling.

Dr. Matthew Fanelli

Dr. Matthew Fanelli received his degree, Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, in Baltimore, MD, after graduating from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He then proceeded to perform research in Dermato-epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. During his Intern year in Baltimore, he was selected as "Intern of the Year." He then completed his Dermatology residency at Drexel University College of Medicine. While there, he scored above the 90th percentile on his national Dermatology exams which is compared to all other dermatology residents nationwide. During his final year, he also served as Chief Resident.

His studies include in-depth research in acne, MRSA, antibiotics, inflammatory bowel disease as well as many other diseases of the skin. Dr. Fanelli's wide ranging experience includes 3 years of research in the Department of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where he was involved in research evaluating mood disorders in local Baltimore high school students. During his final year of residency, he even travelled to India for his dermatology elective, where he treated skin disease in one of the poorest towns of Uttar Pradesh, a state in Northern India. Dr. Fanelli is available to see patients as early as 7 AM, five days a week.

Our Physician Assistant

Chelsy Kimes, PA-C

Chelsy Kimes joined the Mohs Surgery and Dermatology Center in February 2015 with two years of previous dermatology experience. She graduated from physician assistant school at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL with a Masters in Medical Science. She is an active member of the Illinois Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants, and American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Her medical interests include skin cancer prevention and surgical treatment, acne, rosacea, psoriasis, eczema, warts, and general skin care.

Chelsy also has a particular interest in cosmetic dermatology, received specialized training, and is skilled in performing neurotoxin and dermal filler injections for the correction and prevention of fine lines and wrinkles. Other procedures include lip augmentation, tear trough correction, and rejuvenation of the aging midface.

Chelsy genuinely enjoys caring for her patients, with an emphasis on skin aging prevention. Her goal is to leave patients feeling educated about their diagnosis and treatment plan and ultimately feeling great about their skin. Her hobbies include sand volleyball, golfing, traveling, and attending cooking classes.
